When Hurricane Melissa destroyed a family’s home in Cornwall Mountain, Westmoreland, New Foundation Christian Ministries stepped in. NFCM helped facilitate the construction and handover of a new house for the family: a mother of five who had lost the home she shared with her children.
Bishop Donald McFarlane, Founder and Senior Pastor of NFCM, handed over the house to the new homeowner, who was joined by members of her family. It was a day of thanksgiving and a powerful picture of what our motto means: we care and we share.
Care for the Wider Community
The initiative reached beyond one household. NFCM members gathered at Cornwall Mountain Primary School as part of the post-hurricane intervention, sharing care packages, food, clothing and other assistance with residents. Minister Wilma Johnson spent time with the children of the community during the outreach.
